Vintage Lingerie by WHAT KATIE DID created for movie ‘My Week With Marilyn’
“My Week with Marilyn” is an upcoming British movie starring Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe. The movie covers a week in Marilyn’s life when she was filming “The Prince and The Showgirl”.
Setting an authentic tone to the fashion of the period, vintage lingerie brand “What Katie Did” created replicas of original vintage lingerie worn by the starlet in the film. Women of the fabulous fifties were known for the striking silhouettes – high conical shaped (pointy) breasts and small cinched-in waists to accentuate their curvacious hips. Some of the retro-styled undergarments inspired by the ’50s included spiral-stitch bullet bras and body shaping corselets (also known as merry widows).
The movie “My Week With Marilyn” premieres on October 9th, 2011 in New York, but will be released in theaters nationally in the US on November 4th and in the UK on November 18th.
